The Cairo University , Faculty of Science,  Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees the University's animal care and use program ensuring the appropriate care, use and humane treatment of animals used for research, testing and teaching. The IACUC is also responsible for reviewing and approving requests to use vertebrate animals, and ensuring compliance with  the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals 8th Edition 2011 (the Guide). The IACUC performs inspections of all areas where animals are housed and used, and oversees training and educational programs. The IACUC  serves as an information resource on animal welfare concerns for institutional personnel and the community at large.
